There was someone that was lost in obscurity in the pro wrestling world since the 80s, someone like David McClane.
1986-1992 GLOW
McClane, the man behind GLOW or Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling as Promoter and Producer (occasionally Commentator and Ring Announcer) thus making GLOW out beating WWE Superstars in the ratings at the time, but in 1992, Mclane had to sell GLOW and Partnered up with ESPN for the creation of World Roller Hockey League or WRHL for short.
2000
Where David McClane ventured back to his passion of Women’s Professional Wrestling Thus Creating WoW! Women Of Wrestling! The Syndicated Show was filmed at the Great Western Forum or currently known as the KIA Forum. WOW Was syndicated over 100 Markets becoming the number one rated syndicated wrestling program in the New York and Los Angeles Markets with 25 televised episodes and a Pay-Per-View event “WOW Unleashed” during its initial run.
2002
McClane sought a partnership with Kiss bass Guitarist Gene Simmons to Revive the promotion.
2011
WOW TV reruns aired on ABC affiliate KTNV in Las Vegas, Nevada.
2012
David McClane and Business Partner Jeanie Buss announced the revival of WOW and produced new episodes. Which Later in the year, aired reruns on The CW Las Vegas station KVCW starting on December 9th, 2012.
2014-2017
In December of 2014, WOW announced that it would be producing content for Digital Media in 2015. Marketed as “WOW Superheroes” its roster of characters (like “Eye Candy” aka Willow Nightingale, Abilene Maverick a k a Barbi Hayden, Americana a k a Santana Garrett, Jessie Jones a k a Jessie Belle Smothers, Fury a k a Harlow O’Hara, Faith the Lioness a k a Nikkita Lyons, Holidead, and others) are portrayed as empowered women from all different backgrounds and professions. The Second Season premiered on YouTube in March of 2016 and its fourth season premiered in February 2017.
April 2017
MGM Television announced that president of MGM Television Group and Digital, Mark Burnett and Jeanie Buss formed a partnership to develop new WOW content across a range of unscripted programming and digital formats.
June 2018
WOW announced tapings for the promotion’s weekly program on AXS TV titled “WOW: Women of Wrestling” would begin on October 10, 2018, at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles. With episodes airing in 2019.
2019-2020
WOW debuted on Axs TV’s “Friday Night Fights” lineup. The Axs TV premiere marked WOW’s first televised broadcast of new content in almost eighteen years. WOW: Women of Wrestling ran for two seasons on Axs TV. In June 2020, the series “WOW: Women of Wrestling” was canceled following AXS TV’s acquisition of Anthem Sports & Entertainment a parent company of Impact Wrestling which had prominently featured women wrestlers since 2007.
October 2021
ViacomCBS has announced that they entered into a multiyear distribution agreement for WOW that will see new episodes produced for 160 tv stations (CBS or The CW affiliates owned by ViacomCBS or Sinclair Broadcast Group with new episodes aired in fall 2022,) on October 7th, WOW announced that April Mendez formerly known as former WWE Divas Champion & RAW General Manager AJ Lee joined WOW on Color Commentary and as an executive producer.
January 2022:
WOW announced in a press release that “never before seen” episodes from season 1 would debut on Pluto TV & The CW app starting January 22nd, 2022.
