There’s a new women’s wrestling promotion in town and it’s called Spark Joshi. Spark Joshi is the first promotion whose goal is to showcase Japanese-styled women’s pro wrestling to America.
Joshi Puroresu goes back to the 1950s. Its long history has shown matches where there are few angles and even tare distinction between heel or face wrestlers. The style is a mixture of brawling, mat-based wrestling, and high-flying wrestling, and it can be fast-paced.
This promotion much like promotions dedicated to Luche Libre is showcasing the style of Joshi wrestling which includes aesthetic, presentation, and booking style. This is to set them apart from other women-based promotions in the US. Joshi’s wrestling culture is rich, unique, and innovative. Showing this will bring more eyes to this style of wrestling. Women from Japan and non-Japanese women wrestlers will be shown in this promotion. That includes women who have trained or experienced wrestling in Japan. It will also, include those whose wrestling style fits Joshi wrestling.
SPARK Joshi would love to work with promotions in Japan, the US, and wherever else regarding collaborations. They can only be compared to other women’s promotions as just that. But the comparison ends there. Rules, match formats, presentations, and booking is what will show the vast differences between them and other all-women promotions in the US.
There are two shows currently set. IGNITE WEST which will feature the US debut of Ram Kaichow. Sumie Sakai, Miyu Yamashita, Vert Vixen, and Rina Tamashita are some names already announced. Also, Viva Van, Trish Adora, Johnnie Robbie, Kidd Bandit, Saki, and Vipress.
On IGNITE East, we have Maki Itoh, Zeda Zhang, Ultra Violette, Masha Slamovich, Janai Kai, Rachel Ellering, Delmi Exo, Dani Mo, and more.
