The Virtuosa Deonna Purrazzo speaks on Mickie James and the Royal Rumble

Former Staff

IMPACT’s Knockouts Champion Mickie James will appear in this year’s Royal Rumble match, and Deonna felt the same way as everyone else. When the WWE announced that Mickie James would be returning to the ring, fans around the world were in disbelief. Even through this, the Re-crowned double champion seemed more concerned with the long-term benefits of this situation for IMPACT after the initial shock of the announcement.

Purrazzo said: “I think WWE hasn’t always necessarily played well with others so there was so much shock factor to them announcing Mickie James entering the Royal Rumble as the IMPACT Knockouts World Champion.”

She went on to say: “It put a whole new set of eyes on IMPACT’s product and then Mickie and my match at Hard to Kill so I was shocked as everyone else about the announcement but if it is benefitting IMPACT in some way, then I’m all for it.”

Briefly speaking on her label as a belt collector, the Virtuosa said,

“Well, I think I come a little hand in hand, right? I think I’d rather be the belt collector because I think that wrestling is always going to be subjective. Everyone has their favorite flavor of ice cream, right? And I might not be everyone’s cup of tea so I might not ever be number one but what I know for sure is that I am the champ right now, and I’m gonna be the champ-champ on Thursday and one day I’ll be the champ-champ-champ.”

Whether or not the Virtousas’ hopes will be realized with Mickie James’ addition to the Rumble helping to elevate to the already successful Knockouts division and to IMPACT as a whole remains to be seen. On January 29, Peacock will air the Royal Rumble as a premium live event.
