Stardom promised a memorable final show in 2022, and December 29th’s Dream Queendom II no doubt delivered on such a notion. At Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena, Stardom competed in ten head-to-head matches that metaphorically blew the roof off the building. The show also determined who would begin the competition in 2023 on top, including four matches for Stardom’s primary titles.
Results:
14-Man Stardom Rumble Match: Super Strong Stardom Giant Machine and Super Strong Stardom Machine defeat Fukigen Death, Hina, Kikutaro, Lady C, Miyu Amasaki, Ram Kaicho, Rina, SAKI, Tomoka Inaba, Waka Tsukiyama, and Yuna Mizumori — This usually wild wacky match stipulation delivered to help get the crowd ready for the rest of the show, with plenty of antics and fun wrestling to be found.
High Speed Champion Match: AZM (c) defeats Hikari Shimizu — Overall, this was a solid defense for AZM and a great test for Shimizu, who kept up well despite a lack of experience in high-speed matches. However, AZM was on top of her game, and used the chaotic energy in the ring to her advantage.
Six-woman Tag Match: Mayu Iwatani, Momo Kohgo, and Hanan defeat Hazuki, Koguma, and Sata Iida— This Pre-Triangle Derby match was set to get the teams ready for the upcoming event. Some of the best parts were the conversations between Iida and Iwatani, and Hazuki did great work all around. It was a fun match that was very reflective of STARS as a faction: both sides brought lighthearted elements and fantastic chemistry to the ring.
Tag Team Match: Unagi Sayaka and Mina Shirakawa Cosmic Angels) defeat Mai Sakurai and Thekla (Donna del Mond. — Shirakawa returned to the ring with surprise guests Xia Brookside and Mariah May for this battle. It was a terrific tag-team match, revisiting old dynamics of Pink Kabuki (Unagi and Mina) and rivalries to show the bright future ahead for all involved. After their win, Shirakawa ambushed her old partner to announce her new stable called Club Venus. This further propelled her forward on a path toward Wonder of Stardom Champion Saya Kamitani, and perhaps to new heights as both a member of Club Venus and Cosmic Angels.
Three-Way Tag Team Match: MaiHime (Maika & Himeka) def The New Eras (Mirai & Ami Sourei) and BMI2000 (Natsuko Tora & Ruaka) — BMI2000 dominated most of the match, but hard-hitting and relentless action led MaiHime to victory. Thanks to their grit and relentless effort, they are now the Number One Contenders for the Goddess of Stardom Championships.
Singles Match: Utami Hayashishita vs KAIRI goes to Time Limit Draw — 15-minute left fans eager for more. Great in-ring chemistry and teaser for a future title match.
Artist of Stardom Championship Match: vs Risa Sera, Suzu Suzuki & Hiragi Kumi (Prominence) defeat Starlight Kid, Momo Watanabe & Saki Kashima (Oedo Tai) (c) — The hardcore moniker already gave the deathmatch ladies of Prominence an advantage, but the match maintained a vicious pace and lots of moments for everyone to shine. Ultimately, Prominence’s comfort with physicality led to victory over the champions. Hopefully, their intensity and spirit will bring a breath of fresh air to Stardom as well as the artistry behind hardcore matches.
Goddesses of Stardom Champion Match: 7Upp (Nanae Takahashi & Yuu) defeat meltear (Tam Nakano & Natsupoi) (c) — Due to contrasting styles, the Champions had their work cut out for them against the Goddess Tag League Winners, having to use agility and athleticism against their raw strength and power. Unfortunately, in the end, David could not beat Goliath, leading to one of the more shocking results on the card.
Wonder of Stardom Championship Match: Saya Kamitani (c) defeats Haruka Umesaki — Umesaki held her own with some impressive bridging suplexes, but eventually Kamitani came out on top to continue her path as the “future” of professional wrestling.
World of Stardom Championship Match: Giulia defeats Syuri (c) — As predicted, this match was a complete and utter war as ruthless competitors landed their most vicious moves from deep in their arsenal on one another. Chair spots, apron spots, and battles out on the ramp could not slow either woman down. Emotions drove the rivals to the brink, but Giulia came out on top and earned the respect of her old friend as Syuri embraced her and passed on the Red Belt’s legacy to a new champion.
