On Sunday, April 23, Stardom will take over the Yokohama Arena for All-Star Grand Queendom, a major show with several titles on the line. The event takes place 30 years after AJW’s All-Star Dream Slam, hailed as one of the greatest wrestling shows of all time. With an undeniably stacked card for the show, it’s no doubt Grand Queendom pays tribute to this historic night.
Among the start of the card is the Yokohama Rumble, with Momoe Nakanishi vs soon to be announced contenders. She’s aptly followed by a plethora of tag-team action, including Fuwa-chan and Hazuki vs Miyu Amasaki and Utami Hayashishita in a match that’s bound to be fast-paced and hard-hitting. Then comes an eight-women tag featuring Mariah May and Xena of Club Venus team alongside Thekla and a mystery opponent to face Momo Watanabe, Natsuko Tora, Saki Kashima, and Ruaka of Oedo Tai. Mei Suruga and AZM are also set for tag team action against Mei Seira and Starlight Kid.
Of the most notable matches of the night is Himeka’s match against former MaiHime tag team partner and longtime friend Maika. It will be Himeka’s last match with Stardom before her retirement, and she personally requested that Maika be her final opponent. Needless to say, it will be an emotionally taxing bout as well as a physical one.
The Goddess of Stardom Championship is then on the line as 7Upp (Nanae Takahashi and Yuu) face young challengers in The New Eras, Ami Sourei and MIRAI. It will be not only a clash of styles but of experience and wrestling generations.
Meanwhile, the Artist of Stardom Champions Prominence (Suzu Suzuki, Risa Sera, and Hiragi Kurumi) are set to face a newly formed threat in KAIRI’s REstart, which was announced at the April 2nd Stardom show. KAIRI selected Natsupoi and freelance icon Saori Anou to join a team and face the champions in what is sure to be a vicious battle. Additionally, gritty and ruthless former World of Stardom Champion Syuri is set to face Chihiro Hashimoto.
After this weekend’s Sakura Genesis show, Mayu Iwatani challenged IWGP Women’s Champion Mercedes Moné for her championship belt. Moné accepted, but afterward delivered a vicious slap of disrespect across Mayu’s face. With Stardom’s Ace clashing with their newest star, the match is certain to be a wild ride.
Stardom’s top two singles championships are also on the line, with longtime rivals Saya Kamitani and Mina Shirakawa set to clash for the Wonder of Stardom Championship. The last time Shirakawa competed with the Queen’s Quest member for the White Belt, she was injured during the match. This time, she is looking to destroy her opponent, even going so far as to vomit black sludge on Kamitani during Stardom’s press conference for the show on April 3rd.
However, the main eventers of Grand Queendom were not outdone at the press conference. World of Stardom Champion Giulia left her challenger Tam Nakano in a bloody heap on the floor after their encounter. As longtime enemies, Nakano and Giulia have faced each other many times, including a historic Hair vs Hair match that sent Giulia down the path of redemption. Now, with Nakano once again looking to stake her claim as the better wrestler, Giulia seeks to hold her own in what is sure to be a highly physical, intense championship battle.
All-Star Grand Queendom is set for April 23, 2023, and is available to watch on Stardom World, Stardom’s official streaming site.
