Mercedes Moné's Insights on Wrestling, Independence, and Future Plans Revealed on The Breakfast Club

Mercedes Moné, made headlines once again with her candid and inspiring interview on The Breakfast Club radio show. Sitting down with Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Loren LoRosa, Moné gave fans an inside look at her bold career moves, personal growth, and her future beyond wrestling.

Moné explained the significance of stepping away from her iconic Sasha Banks persona, a name she built into one of WWE’s biggest brands, to embrace her real identity. "I had to bet on myself," she said. "Sasha Banks was incredible, but Mercedes Moné? That’s who I truly am."

The transition was more than just a name change. It symbolized Moné’s shift into uncharted territory, especially in Japan, where she’s been making waves in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Stardom. "Wrestling in Japan has been an amazing challenge. It's made me a stronger performer and person. The passion and the craft there? It's on another level."

Leaving WWE, Moné admitted, wasn’t easy. Walking away from a top spot in the world’s biggest wrestling company came with personal and professional risks. "It was scary, but I needed to do it for my sanity and my freedom," she said. "I had to take control of my life."

She opened up about the mental and emotional toll of being in such a high-profile position, especially as a woman of color breaking barriers in a predominantly male industry. "The pressure is real, but I thrive off it. I want young girls, especially Black girls, to know they can do anything. There’s no box they have to fit into."

Music, Movies, and More

The conversation shifted to what’s next for Moné, and she dropped hints about some exciting new projects in the pipeline. From acting to music, she’s exploring her creative passions beyond the ring. "I’ve been working on some music—something I’ve always loved but never had the time to focus on. Now, I do."

Moné also hinted at upcoming film and TV roles, following her well-received turn in The Mandalorian. "There’s more coming, but I can’t say much yet. Let’s just say, I’m not done with the screen."

Legacy and Mentorship

When asked about her legacy, Moné was clear: "I want to be remembered for changing the game." As a trailblazer in WWE’s women’s division, she’s already left an indelible mark, but she’s not done yet. "My legacy isn’t just about what I did in the ring. It’s about helping other women rise. I didn’t have many women to look up to when I started, so I want to be that role model."

She expressed her dedication to mentoring up-and-coming talent in wrestling, sharing that she’s committed to ensuring the next generation has the support she lacked early in her career.

As the interview wrapped, Mercedes Moné had a heartfelt message for her loyal fans. "Thank you for sticking with me through this journey. From Sasha Banks to Mercedes Moné, this is just the beginning. We’re going to keep making history."

Moné’s Breakfast Club appearance reaffirmed what many already knew—whether in the ring or out, she’s an unstoppable force ready to conquer whatever comes next.
