Jada Stone has been taking the wrestling world by storm in her debut year! A cheerleader and wrestler, she’s been seen on Impact Wrestling & more all in her first year. WWT host Emily Mae sat down with Jada Stone to discuss her first wrestling anniversary, the power of being well-rounded, how to be the spark, studying sports management, & the biggest opponents she’s had this year!
JADA STONE CELEBRATES ONE YEAR WRESTLING ANNIVERSARY
“And I can’t believe I’m only at one year because I feel like within one year, I accomplished so much. And I’ve been around so many great names and higher up names. I’m like, I shouldn’t even be here in my first year. So, it’s like, oh, my God, I feel so pressured. Because like, I don’t want people to be like, it’s only her first year. She doesn’t deserve some opportunities. But I’m working hard. And I’m passionate about what I do. I feel like everything you know will come together. But I’m just so excited. And I can’t wait to see what year two brings.”
JADA STONE SHARED HER WRESTLING INSPIRATIONS IN SASHA BANKS AND BAYLEY
“At first when I started watching it, actually, that was when Nikki Bella, Brie Bella and Alicia Fox were together. And then it was… AJ, you had AJ, Paige. And then I remember this is the moment that changed for me. Was Sasha Banks… Like I was a big Nikki Bella fan. But I was like, no, this Sasha Banks girl is like really, really cool. Like, Nikki, I love you. But I might have to start being the fashion week span, you know?
So, then Sasha Banks like, she really opened up the doors for me, because I wasn’t watching NXT at the time…Bayley and Sasha, they definitely were those two inspirations for me. And I tried to incorporate one of their moves or how they carry themselves because Sasha like she’s confident she knows she’s the boss and then Bailey like she’s just a good technical wrestler that everybody can work with.”
HER TOUGHEST OPPONENTS SHE’S LEARNED FROM THIS YEAR
“MJ Jenkins, she was a former NXT superstar. Amazing…I was so scared to get in learning with her. And even Dani Mo, I faced her earlier in the year. And she was just that person who was like, you’re like you’re green. But obviously, like, you’re here for a reason, like, prove why you’re here. But it’s just so many great people like I was in the ring with Chris Bey, you know, just messing around with him. He’s on impact, you know, Abadon, she’s on AEW, Julia Hart, AEW. …Oh, my opponents, I learned something different, which is good. Like, no matter how green they are, or how experienced they are, I always learned something else in the ring.”
DISCUSSES HOW HER CHEERLEADING BACKGROUND HELPS IN THE RING
“Yeah, I’m a cheerleader. I’ve been cheering since I was in fifth grade. So I’ve been cheering my majority of my life. And like, even before that, I was just like, always flipping and stuff. So, my parents finally put me in cheer. And literally, still doing it to this day. And honestly, like, I feel like if I wasn’t for cheering, like, I wouldn’t be the spark in the ring, if that makes sense. Because the spark is not, it’s not just a saying it’s like something who I really am. And basically, it’s like, I want to be that positive energy for people who are having a bad day. Because I know life is hard, you know, I’m saying and if you could bring that energy to somebody who doesn’t even know you…”
SHARES WHAT GETS HER THROUGH TOUGH TIMES & STAYING POSITIVE IN THE WRESTLING INDUSTRY
“I just think about, like the little girl who’ve always wanted to wrestle. And like now I’m here. So, it’s like, why stop now. But I’m actually like, three months ago, my bestie my cousin, she committed suicide. And that was like very hard on us and or just the whole family. And that’s when I took time. I took a couple of weeks off because she was my reason. Like she was the one like keep going you got it, you know? So, it was like, the fact that like, she wasn’t there anymore.
I was like, dude, like, you’re not even here to support me. So, like, why should I keep doing this? And then I think about it. It’s like, no, like, she’s known. This is my dream since you know, we’re, we’re a little and she’s always been my supporter. I feel like you, you have the people you keep going for whether they’re here or not.
“Life is hard. Like, no, you really never know like what people is going through. I always try to be that positive energy. Like, that’s why I said always that’s why like, or my shirt says, “Believe in your Spark.” And that physically means like, everybody has a spark, find what makes you passionate, find what makes you happy and run with it. Because nobody can take away your happiness no matter how much they try. So, it’s like, even when people are like saying negative things about me, it’s like, no, that hurts. But they like this is this is my passion.”
