Following the departure of the previous champions Sasha Banks and Naomi from the company in May, the titles were vacated. The titles remained vacant during the summer, however, in August it was announced that champions will be crowned.
WWE also scheduled Aliyah and Raquel Rodriquez to become the new Women’s Tag Team Champions. Their bitter opponents won the championship tonight.
The tag team titles of Raquel Rodriquez and Aliyah would be on the line tonight on Raw as they take against Damage CNTRL (Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky). In a previous episode of Raw, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky were defeated in the Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament finals. Kai also criticized Triple H for the contentious match’s conclusion.

During tonight’s episode of Raw, Damage CNTRL finally defeated the Women’s Tag Team Champions. Aliyah was pinned by Dakota Kai, giving her team the victory. With Bayley pushing for them, the new champs celebrated their impressive victory.
