Prestige Wrestling revealed a historic matchup for their upcoming show Vendetta on October 20 at around 4 p.m. Athena and Miyu Yamashita square off at The Glass House in Pomona, California, to open 2023. Since both wrestlers have experience with AEW, a match was unavoidable; however, a date has been set. The match is anticipated to sell out as Prestige plays at The Glass House for the first time since September.

This is expected to be a fight based solely on reputation; both women are stars in their own right, with Yamashita being the “ace” of Tokyo Joshi Pro and Athena (fka Ember Moon) having competed at the highest levels in both AEW and WWE. Fans are eagerly anticipating the match and expect it to feature both corners of stiff, skilled wrestling.

A crowd is attracted by their aesthetics and Athena’s unquenchable fire. Yamashita is known as the “Momoiro Striker” or “Pink/Peach Striker.” She uses vicious moves and dangerous kicks in her technical, vicious style. Athena employs her speed, adaptability, and ability to fly. The O-Face, also referred to as the Eclipse, is a stunning corkscrew top rope diving move. Yamashita has hosted three matches for Prestige since joining TJPW, and she has triumphed in each one. Masha Slamovich of Impact was the first, followed by Maki Itoh and Trish Adora. In the promotion, she hopes to add the well-traveled and tried Fallen Goddess to her collection of triumphs.

In regard to the announcement, Yamashita took to Twitter to share her thoughts.

“Let’s see who takes their opponent’s head off first…” she teased, followed with an appreciation for Prestige for hosting her return. At the time of this article’s posting, Athena has not responded to the challenge.

Vendetta’s live tickets went on sale October 21st at 10:00 am PST, and IWTV will stream the show at 7 pm PST. Prestige will announce more updates and matches on prestigewrestling.net and @WrestlePrestige.
