Gisele Shaw Comes Out As A Trans Woman

Impact Knockout’s star Gisele Shaw has come out as a trans woman to round out the end of Pride Month.

The 33-year-old made history when she made the announcement on Breakfast Television Canada while in Toronto on June 24th, becoming the first out trans woman to be signed to the company. She said that she has become much more comfortable in her own skin and is proud of her identity.

”The news is that today, I am truly living my life to the fullest, truly authentic, and I am transgender and I’m very proud…It’s super scary, but the more I speak about it, I feel it just gets normalized and I feel more free and accepting of my own self and loving myself.  I think that’s really important.” (h/t Diva Dirt)

Shaw continued on to say that with the Pride Toronto event happening on the same day, the time felt right for her to come out to the public even though it was very scary for her.

“It means so much to me because during Toronto pride especially.  It’s about being proud and being authentic and true to yourself.  It’s so important to just love yourself and to be true to who you are.” (h/t Diva Dirt)

Impact Wrestling made a post on their website to show their support for the Quintessential Diva.

Current Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace also showed her support for Shaw, saying:

”As her friend, I’m excited for Gisele to be able to inspire people with her story. I know that is important to her. I’m biased, but I think the trans community has a great role model in her.” (h/t Ringside News)

Shaw began her career in 2015, wrestling for promotions such as Progress and RevPro. She wrestled for Women of Wrestling in 2019 under the name Azteca. While she had a few matches with Impact in 2018, she didn’t officially sign with them until earlier this year.

From all of us here at Women’s Wrestling Talk, we congratulate Shaw for being able to live her truth and can’t wait to see what’s next in her bright future!
