Due to the upcoming WrestleMania 38, these are my top 5 women’s matches that let these ladies shine! Here are the women who have captivated us on the grandest stage for numerous years, with some honorable mentions.
5 . Molly Holly Vs Victoria / Hair vs Title/ Wrestlemania
This match was originally not scheduled on the match card. The only match that was supposed to happen was an evening gown tag match. Molly went to Vince McMahon with a shorn head if he placed the women’s championship on Wrestlemania. And thus the match was made: Victoria defends, and if Molly loses she gets her head shaved. Aside from Trish and Lita, Molly and Victoria were the better wrestlers in the early 2000s.
4. Trish Stratus vs Christy Hemme / WrestleMania 21 / Women’s Championship
The setup for this match combines some dumb Playboy-related stuff with the actually compelling Trish Stratus vs. Lita rivalry. With Christy Hemme having just been groomed by the wounded Lita to overcome their common foe, it’s effectively a squash match for Stratus. Stratus performs effectively as a powerful heel champion, and the audience is involved despite the bout barely lasting 4 minutes.
3. Santina Marella wins the Miss Wrestlemania battle royal at WrestleMania 25
Beth Phoenix dominantly eliminated several people in a row throughout this match. That is until the glamazon tries to eliminate Melina with a Glam Slam over the top rope. As a result, the inaugural “Miss WrestleMania” would be an unknown Diva dressed as Santino Marella.
2. Jazz vs. Trish vs. Victoria / Wrestlemania 19 / Women’s Championship
This match would see Trish coming into her own as a singles performer during WrestleMania X-8 (18) and XIX (19). Jazz is still clearly the best wrestler in this triple threat, but Stratus can hang with her and is carried by her charisma and popularity. Victoria’s crazy acting with a capital “A” is admirable and she holds her own as well. Though the execution of some spots isn’t too clean, it’s safe to call this the best women’s match in WrestleMania history at the time it happens. This match would go down as one of the best triple threats during this time frame as the women capitalized on every opportunity they were given.
1. Vickie Guerrero Diva’s Championship Invitational / Wrestlemania 30 / Divas Championship
Aj Lee would make history at Wrestlemania 30 as she would be the first diva to defend and retain the WWE Divas Championship at Wrestlemania. This match would be placed after Undertaker and Brock Lesnar’s streak as Undertaker’s streak would be broken, these women would still captivate the fans throughout the match. The 14 divas involved showed that even with a little bit of time and being placed after a shocker such as a streak breaking they still could deliver!
