Impact Wrestling will be inducting Awesome Kong into the 2021 Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place in Las Vegas at Bound for Glory on Saturday, October 23rd. The announcement of her induction comes after going public with her retirement during NWA EmPowerrr last month. This monumental significance makes her the first Black woman to be inducted into Impact Wrestling’s Hall of Fame.
Gail Kim took to social media to congratulate her longtime friend and notable rival, sharing the importance the legend has on women’s wrestling. Her rivalry with Kim goes down in history as one of the greatest feuds of all time. Her legacy and influence within the world of wrestling leads back to her days in Japan in the early 2000s.
During her time in TNA, she became a two-time Knockouts Champion and former Knockouts Tag Team Champion with partner and TNA legend, Hamada. Her accolades and accomplishments continue as she watches the newcomers of today live on the legacy she helped build within the Knockouts.
Our very own, Stephanie Hardy, caught up with the former Knockouts Champion during NWA Empowerrr. She discusses owning her career and says, “I have my fingers in some pies of entertainment.” Although, the GLOW star is hanging up her wrestling boots for now, the anticipation of where her journey outside of the ring will go keeps us locked into what is next for the legend.
